THIS COURSE REALLY IS USEFUL!

YES!

From the time I have been in this class I have become irritably curious and questioning of what I do not understand and of why other people think the way they do. My mind has turned into some chaotic place full of wonder that my parents cannot stand. It's quite neat actually.

I cannot lie; sometimes I wonder why did I take this course? Why put myself through more work and time than I have to? Well I guess I will just have to see what I am willing to take out of this course.

One thing is for sure; I am glad that the vocabulary I learned was on my SAT test. I looked at the question and I got that exited feeling a 3 year old gets when they get something they really wanted. I was overjoyed that I knew the meaning of Punctilio and Curmudgeon.  I hesitated and thought oh my gosh I know this! I know this! Best feeling ever!

IF I JUST HAD MORE TIME

If i had more time to improve my performance on the midterm i would have divided the vocabulary and studied them separate days. When i knew one list i would move on to the next. That would give me more time to understand the words better. As for the essay there was not really a way i could study for that. I knew my stuff when it came to Chaucer so that kind of helped. Next time i need to better pace myself, develop my ideas better and focus. It was hard to focus because as i was writing i kept on remembering vocabulary words. I was constantly going back and forth.

THE COMPARISON'S TALE

Out of the two tales presented in period 5 the one that was closest to The Miller was the one of the Cook. In both tales there was humor and criticism being done. In The Miller you would assume that the young Nicholas would be the not so smart character because he is young, but in reality he ended up beguiling John the older man who is supposed to be smarter. Same in the cook's tale you would think that a chubby man who loves what he does would be a great cook, but instead he makes people sick with his food. Chaucer deceives his readers in the way that they assume one thing, but end up being wrong. The apprentice and Nicholas both have this sense that everything is going to be ok, that they can do whatever they want. The style of writing was very similar for it was humorous, and mocking. The theme of the tales is that not everything is, as it seems, the cover of the book does not summarize the content of the novel. The tone was probably very similar, satirical, humorous, irritated etc.

(Quatro Quatro’s Hands talking)
His knuckles scrapped, sweaty and about to be crammed into somebody’s face. They loosened a bit when Dan Smith yelled
“We won! Quatro Quatro we won!”
He threw his arm up and I went along with it forming a fist in the air
“Yeah, yeah!”
he screamed at the top of his lungs. He finally felt alive, his temples visibly noticeable, and his face lighting up like no other.
I carried the bags to LAX
“Vegas time.”
Dan said enthusiastically.
“Pound it dude”
Quatro Quatro said excitedly. That kind of hurt my knuckles.
On the plane Quatro and Dan fell asleep I rested on Quatro’s belly. I saw other people on their electronic devices, others laughing, fighting and staring blankly into space. Quatro Quatro took a peek at his watch not remembering how he got to his hotel room. He was so exhausted from the football game that everything felt like a dream. He turned to the side to find Dan in some dark blue jeans and a black polo shirt. He winked and said
“Let’s go we are late”
Quatro Quatro rubbed me on his face and asked confusingly,
“Where? What?”
“The bar”
Dan said with a sly smile
“How could you be late to a bar?”
Quatro Quatro challenged.
“Just hurry and get ready”
Dan said irritated.
I could feel the cool breeze of the midnight vegas air. I opened the door and the lights, smells, and people all gave me a rush. All is a sudden I was not too tired. As I walked to the bar I brushed up against a beautiful lady’s naked back. She looked helpless, eager, and anxious all at the same time.
